The Rowan Alternative Club

The Rowan Alternative Club started as a Facebook group a couple of years ago and the idea was to bring students with similar interests to communicate and collaborate with each other. Students were sharing music and forming bands.

It grew to the point were they became an SGA chartered club and that allowed them to receive funding and they regularly put out shows for students. A distinction from this organization to 4333 is that is to a degree a bit more student oriented.

For example, their most enjoyable events are the Rowan Alt Unplugged were they feature students with a deep passion for music and they come together to sing covers or original songs in front of a crowd that is open to give everyone the chance to say and perform what they want to perform.

At the end of this last Unplugged event my friend, who’s a drummer, decided to ask to jump in the drums and because of the relaxed nature of this event he managed to add to the show with no previous arrangements.

And, I think this is the true beauty of these events. Every knows that they’re there to share their love for music and people give each other the time of day and are encouraging of new members that can bring new things to the table.

They have a new event coming up and it’s exciting to know that they are excited to keep the events coming.
